Brand Foundation & ManifestoBanaras, at first hand.
In Banaras, the day begins twice. Once at the river, and once at the loom — a low rhythm from behind a shuttered door in Madanpura, Lallapura, Khojwan, and Ramnagar. Six metres of silk can take a family forty days.
Why We Exist
For most of the last century, Banarasi cloth left the city anonymously through agents, wholesalers, and showrooms. By the time it reached a buyer in Bengaluru or London, the weaver's name was gone.
Banaras Aesthetics exists to put the name back. We are a direct-to-consumer house dedicated to one city and its six craft houses. We buy from the maker, publish who they are, price in the open, and certify the provenance of every piece.
